The staff of Fenza

Article by Francois Richard M.Afr.

This afternoon, the bishops and delegates were invited to visit a few institutions concerned with Justice and Reconciliation. About 25 of them opted to visit Fenza. They arrived at 15 hours and were welcomed by the staff.

With the help of a PowerPoint presentation we explained the aims and activities of the Centre. We stressed the missionary/pastoral dimension of all our activities. We are neither a purely academic institution, nor a conservatory of culture. Our aim is to help Christians to face the challenges of encounter between faith and culture or with the one who is different.

Our different activities and fields of intervention were presented. We explained that although we are not a JPIC institution, we also work for a better understanding between people, whereby promoting harmony and reconciliation, which are the topic of the AMECEA assembly. Then the bishops and delegates asked a few questions, mostly about Satanism and about Islam.

A tour of the premises was then organised, especially of the library and of the archives. They were also given the occasion to witness the construction of our new hall. (Some visitors looked more interested in the way we make bricks than in the ethnographical books) Refreshments were offered and the whole group left around 17.00, praising the M.Afr for this missionary initiative.
