MESSAGE DE PÂQUES 2006

" Ce Jésus, Dieu l'a ressuscité, nous tous en sommes témoins " (Actes 2,32)

Sœurs et Frères,

Christ est ressuscité. Il est vraiment ressuscité.
Heureuse et sainte fête de Pâques à vous tous.

Cette année la célébration de Pâques tombe, dans nos Églises, le 16 ou le 23 avril. La proximité de ces deux dates devrait renforcer la solidarité de nos célébrations et nous encourager à nous rappeler, nous l'espérons bien, que nous sommes tous des témoins de la Résurrection. Nous proclamons tous : Jésus est mort et ressuscité. Il a vaincu la mort, le péché et le pouvoir du mal, et il a donné à tous les êtres humains de bon vouloir d'être comme Lui plus forts que la mort, le péché et toute puissance du mal. C'est le puissant miracle que Dieu a accompli parmi nous en notre Terre Saine et il a voulu que nous soyons ses témoins. Jésus est ressuscité, Il est vraiment ressuscité et Il est avec nous jusqu'à la fin des temps (cf. Mt 28,20).

Si nous nous tournons en esprit vers les membres de l'Église primitive et méditons sur le témoignage qu'ils ont rendu à la Résurrection du Seigneur, alors nous devons nous arrêter un moment et nous demander : sommes-nous de véritables témoins de la Résurrection aujourd'hui comme eux l'étaient. Montrons-nous par notre vie de tous les jours que nous croyons à la Résurrection et que Jésus est encore vivant et à l'œuvre, par son Église, dans le monde et en notre Terre Sainte où il a vécu, est mort et est ressuscité ? Le témoignage que nous rendons au Christ ressuscité doit être un défi aimant pour tous ceux avec qui nous entrons en contact.

Nous savons que notre vie en cette terre est frustrante et remplie d'épreuves. De nos jours il nous semble être affrontés à un chemin inconnu ou à une impasse dans la vie politique, entre le nouveau Gouvernement israélien et le nouveau Gouvernement palestinien. En premier lieu nous faisons appel à la communauté internationale qui a décidé de boycotter le Peuple palestinien : il n'est pas permis de boycotter un peuple auquel oppression et injustices ont été et demeurent imposées, alors que cette communauté internationale est jusqu'à présent restée paralysée pour mettre fin aux oppressions, et pour cela cette paralysie a donné naissance à la violence, au terrorisme et à l'humiliation de la personne humaine. Au lieu de boycotter, nous appelons la communauté internationale à saisir l'occasion de cette phase dans l'histoire du conflit pour essayer sérieusement de mettre fin à la souffrance de notre pays et de tous ses habitants. Nous en appelons à elle pour qu'elle transforme notre pays en un pays où brille la gloire d'un être humain libéré de toute oppression et de toute peur, là où la gloire et la voix de Dieu se sont manifestées à l'humanité.

Nous en appelons à nos chefs, sachant qu'ils se trouvent face à des décisions difficiles. S'il existe une volonté sincère, il y aura possibilité et force pour surmonter tous les obstacles, afin de parvenir à la sécurité, à la paix et à la justice pour tous, Palestiniens comme Israéliens. Nous en appelons aux Autorités israéliennes afin qu'elles voient que les mesures unilatérales ne sont qu'un autre aspect du conflit et de la permanence des souffrances pour les deux peuples. C'est pourquoi nous leur demandons avec insistance de prendre les justes mesures pour libérer l'être humain, israélien et palestinien, et de voir dans l'Autorité palestinienne une aide et un partenaire pour construire une paix dont l'édification n'est pas quelque chose d'impossible.

Nous voudrions saluer nos Sœurs et nos Frères à travers le monde, souhaitant pour vous tous une Pâque réellement bénie. Vous aussi êtes appelés à être les témoins de Jésus ressuscité. Vous portez avec nous la responsabilité d'une réconciliation en cette Terre Sainte, qui soit fondée sur la vérité, la justice et l'égalité des personnes et des peuples. Nous sommes reconnaissants pour tous vos efforts et votre solidarité. Mais nous vous demandons de vous arrêter un moment avec nous, en cette Semaine sainte, devant le mystère d'amour contenu dans ce temps sacré et de vous demander : avez-vous fait tout ce qui est en votre pouvoir pour ramener la justice et la dignité humaine aux personnes humaines et aux croyants qui vivent autour des lieux saints, lieux des racines de votre foi et lieu de la Rédemption du monde ? Demandez aux gouvernements : sont-ils incapables de faire cesser les souffrances des deux peuples dans ce pays ? Demandez aux média dans votre pays : visent-ils, en tout ce qu'ils disent, à apporter la vie, l'amour et la confiance entre les deux peuples de ce pays ? Questionnez-les et questionnez-vous vous-mêmes au sujet du soi-disant " Mur de sécurité ou de séparation ", des nombreux postes de contrôle et de la dignité écrasée de l'être humain dans le pays de la Rédemption et de l'amour.

Pâques est le temps pour proclamer la force, la joie et l'espérance de la Résurrection. C'est le temps où nous accueillons la plénitude de vie promise par Jésus (cf. Jn 10,10). Sœurs et Frères à travers le monde, filles et fils de notre Terre Sainte, nous vous souhaitons une glorieuse fête de la Résurrection, pleine de joie et d'espérance, qui renouvelle votre force et vous rende capables de construire une vie nouvelle dans votre société, attendant les personnes capables de la bâtir et de lui donner une nouvelle vie, fondée sur la justice, la paix, l'amour et la réconciliation.
Christ est ressuscité. Il est vraiment ressuscité.

EASTER MESSAGE 2006

"This Jesus God raised up, and of that we are witnesses." (Acts ch.2 v.32)

Sisters and Brothers,

Christ is Risen. He is risen indeed. A Happy & Holy Easter to you all.

This year the celebration of Easter falls in our Churches on either April 16th or 23rd. The close proximity of these two dates should strengthen the solidarity of our celebrations and hopefully, urge us to remember that we all are witnesses to the Resurrection. We all proclaim and say: Jesus died and was raised in glory. He defeated death, sin and the power of evil, and He gave all human beings of good will to be as He stronger than death, sin and all power of evil. This is the mighty miracle which God performed among us in our Holy Land and wanted us to be His witnesses. Jesus is risen, He truly is risen and He is with us until the end of days (cf. Mt 28: 20).

If we go back in spirit to the members of the Early Church and meditate on their witnessing to the glorious Resurrection of the Lord, then we have to pause and to ask ourselves: are we true witnesses to the Resurrection today as they were? Do we demonstrate in our daily lives that we believe in the Resurrection and that Jesus is still alive and at work through His Church in the world and in our Holy Land where he lived, died and resurrected? Our witness to the Risen Jesus must be a clear challenging love to all with whom we come in contact.

We know that our life in this Land is full of hardships and frustrating. It seems nowadays that we face an unknown path or impasse in the political life, between the new Israeli Government and the new Palestinian Government. Here we call first upon the International Community that decided to boycott the Palestinian people: it is not permitted to boycott a people on whom oppressions and injustices were and are imposed, while the international community remained so far paralyzed in putting an end to these oppressions, and therefore this paralysis gave birth to violence, terrorism and the humiliation of the human person. Instead of boycotting, we appeal to the International Community to seize the opportunity of this phase in history of the conflict in order to try seriously to put an end to the suffering of our land and of all its inhabitants. We call upon it to transform our land in a land in which shines the glory of the human being liberated from all kind of oppression and fear, where the glory and the voice of God appeared to man.

We appeal to our leaders, knowing they are facing difficult decisions. If a sincere will exists, there will be capacity and power to overcome all obstacles, in order to reach security, peace and justice to all, Palestinians and Israelis alike. We call upon the Israelis Authorities so to see that unilateral measures are another aspect of the conflict and the permanence of the sufferings for both peoples. Therefore, we urge them to take the right measures to liberate the human being, Israeli or Palestinian, and to see in the Palestinian Authority a help and a partner to construct a peace, of which the building is not something impossible.

We would like to greet our Sisters and Brothers across the world, wishing all of you a truly Blessed Easter. You too are called to be witnesses to the risen Jesus. You bear with us the responsibility of reconciliation in this Holy Land based on truth, justice, and equality among peoples and persons. We are grateful for all your efforts and solidarity. But we ask you to stop a while with us, in this Holy Week, before the mystery of love contained in this Holy Season and ask yourselves: did you do all you can in order to bring back justice and human dignity to those human beings and believers living around the Holy Places, the place of the roots of your faith and the place of the Redemption of the world? Ask governments: are they unable to help bring an end to the sufferings of the two peoples in this land? Ask the Media in your country: do they intend through what they say to bring life, love, and trust among the two people of this land? Ask and ask yourselves about the so called "Security or Isolating Wall" and the numerous Check Points and the crushed dignity of the human being in the land of the Redemption and love?

Easter is the time to proclaim the strength, the joy and the hope of the Resurrection. It is the time in which we welcome the fullness of life promised by Jesus (cf. Jn 10: 10). Sisters and brothers across the world, daughters and sons in our Holy Land, we wish you a glorious feast of the Resurrection, full of joy and hope, that renews your strength and makes you able to build a new life in your society waiting for people who can build it and give it a new life, based on justice, peace, love and reconciliation.
