AFRIQUE/TANZANIE - Promouvoir une formation biblique renouvelée et intensifiée pour tous les membres de l’Eglise : l’un des objectifs qui découlent de la Septième Assemblée Plénière de la Fédération Biblique Catholique, célébrée pour la première fois en Afrique

Dar es Salaam (Agence Fides) – Plus de 230 spécialistes de la pastorale biblique provenant d’environ 80 pays se sont réunis, du 24 juin au 3 juillet, pendant la Septième Assemblée Plénière de la Fédération Biblique Catholique. Pour la première fois en presque quarante ans d’histoire de cet organisme, la réunion a eu lieu en Afrique, dans la capitale tanzanienne Dar es Salaam.

Le thème de l’Assemblée Plénière a été : "Parole de Dieu, source de réconciliation, de justice et de paix", avec la devise biblique : "Nous sommes des ambassadeurs pour le Christ" (cf. 2 Cor 5:19-20). Ce thème a voulu tenir compte du contexte particulier de l’Afrique, en reprenant toutefois les défis actuels du ministère pastoral de l’Eglise dans le monde entier.

Ouverture à la réconciliation, soif de justice et poursuite de la paix sont des dimensions prioritaires de l’action chrétienne non seulement en Afrique. De plus on a voulu créer un lien avec le deuxième Synode des évêques pour l’Afrique, qui aura lieu en 2009, et qui aura pour thème "L’Eglise en Afrique au service de la réconciliation, de la justice et de la paix".

Au terme de l’Assemblée un nouveau Comité exécutif a été élu. Il restera en charge jusqu’à la prochaine Assemblée plénière de 2014. Il est composé des institutions suivantes et de leurs représentants respectifs : Assemblée des Patriarches et Évêques catholiques au Liban (P. Paul Féghaly), Fondation Biblique Catholique d’Afrique du Sud (Teresa Wilsnagh) et Conférence épiscopale des Philippines (Son Exc. Mgr Arturo Bastes, SVD, évêque de Sorsogon). Les autres membres sont : le Centre Biblique du Verbe Divin en Equateur (P. Laurentino Fernández, SVD), le Conseil Episcopal Latino-américain (CELAM) (P. Fidel Oñoro, cjm) et la Conférence épiscopale de la Tanzanie (Son Exc. Mgr Telesphor Mkude, évêque de Morogoro).

Trois membres de l’ancien bureau complètent le Comité exécutif : Son Exc. Mgr Vincenzo Paglia (Président de la Fédération Biblique Catholique, évêque de Terni-Narni-Amelia), Mgr Bernhard Krautter du Conseil d’administration de la Fédération Biblique Catholique, et Mgr Juan Usma Gómez du Conseil Pontifical pour la Promotion de l’Unité des Chrétiens.

Les priorités indiquées par la Fédération Biblique Catholique pour les six prochaines années sont la promotion de l’inspiration biblique dans tous les secteurs du ministère pastoral et une formation biblique renouvelée et intensifiée pour tous les membres de l’Eglise. Autres priorités indiquées : la promotion de la Lectio divina ou la lecture orante de l’Ecriture ; l'animation de petites communautés chrétiennes par la lecture de la Bible ; l'utilisation créative des médias électroniques et digitaux pour garantir une plus ample diffusion de l’Ecriture.

Finalement les efforts pour le dialogue oecuménique, interreligieux et interculturel seront intensifiés également avec les non-croyants, en vue de la réconciliation, de la justice et de la paix. (L.M.) (Agence Fides 7/7/2008 – Lignes : 36 ; Mots : 489)

AFRICA/TANZANIA - Promoting a renewed and intensified Biblical formation for all members of the Church: one of the objectives mentioned in the 7th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Biblical Federation, celebrated for the first time in Africa

Dar es-Salaam (Agenzia Fides) – Over 230 specialists in Biblical pastoral activity from nearly 80 countries met from June 24 to July 3, for the 7th Plenary Assembly of the Catholic Biblical Federation. For the first time in its nearly 40 years of history, the meeting took place in Africa, in Tanzania’s capital city of Dar es-Salaam.

The theme of the Plenary Assembly was “Word of God - Source of Reconciliation, Justice and Peace,” with the Biblical motto: “We are ambassadors for Christ” (cf 2 Cor 5:19-20). The theme was an effort to take into account the concrete situation in Africa, without ignoring the challenges present in the Church’s pastoral ministry throughout the world. Openness to forgiveness, desires for justice and peace are priorities of Christianity as a whole, not only in Africa. It has also been an effort to create a link with the Second Synod of Bishops of Africa, which will be celebrated in 2009 and will have as its theme: “The Church in Africa at the service of reconciliation, justice, and peace.”

At the close of the Assembly, the new Executive Committee was elected. They will remain in office until the next Plenary Assembly scheduled for 2014. This Committee is formed by the following institutions and their respective representatives: Assemblée des Patriarches et Évêques catholiques au Liban (Fr. Paul Féghaly), Catholic Biblical Foundation of South Africa (Teresa Wilsnagh), and the Filipino Bishops’ Conference (Bishop Arturo Bastes, SVD of Sorsogon). The other members are: the “Centro Bíblico Verbo Divino” of Ecuador (Fr. Laurentino Fernández, SVD), the Latin American Bishops’ Conference (CELAM) (Fr. Fidel Oñoro, cjm), and the Tanzanian Bishops Conference ( Bishop Telesphor Mkude of Morogoro).

The three “ex-officio” members of the Executive Committee are: Bishop Vincenzo Paglia (President of the Catholic Biblical Federation and Bishop of Terni-Narni-Amelia, Msgr. Bernhard Krautter of the Administrative Council of the Catholic Biblical Federation, and Msgr. Juan Usma Gomez of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.

The priorities for the Catholic Biblical Federation for the next six years are the promotion of the inspiration of the Bible in all areas of pastoral ministry and a renewed and intensified Biblical formation for all members of the Church. Other priorities include: the promotion of the Lectio divina and prayerful reading of Scripture; promotion of small Christian communities through the reading of the Bible; and the use of electronics and digital technology in spreading Scripture reading. Greater efforts will also be made in ecumenical, interreligious, and intercultural dialogue, including with those of no professed belief, aiming towards reconciliation, justice, and peace.
