AFRIQUE/OUGANDA - Grande participation à la fête des Martyrs d’Ouganda

Un demi million de pélerins d'Afrique et d'Europe se sont réunis cette année pour les célébrations des Martyrs de l'Ouganda à namugongo. L'archevêque de Kampala, son Excellence Mgr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga présidait les cérémonies dont le thème était : "Soyez mes témoins de la famille au monde entier".

Deux "Frères catholiques" comme le rapporte la presse ougandaise, portaient le Livre de la parole de Dieu au milieu du Lac de Namugongo pour les célébrations des Martyrs de l'ouganda. Ces deux frères étaient le P. Ubemu Robert et Yabré Boris, stagiaireà la paroisse de Nabulagala.

Ce bateau rappelle à tous les Ougandais le bateau qui amenerent les premiers missionnaires catholiques, P. Simeon Lourdel et le Fr.. Amans traversant le lac Victoria de Mwanza à Kigungu près d'Entebbe apportant La Bonne Nouvelle au peuple ougandais

En plus de nos Missionnaires d'Afrique portant le Livre de la Parole de Dieu au milieu du lac, le Provincial Richard Nnyombi et le P. Rudi Lehnertz portaient les reliques des martyrs de l'Ouganda en procession, suivis par tous les évêques de l'Ouganda, et par des centaines de prêtres et par une foule incroyable qui avait fait le chemin vers Namugongo.

AFRICA/UGANDA - Crowds attend the festival for Ugandan Martyrs

An estimated half a million pilgrims from all over Africa and many parts of Europe gathered this year for the National Celebrations of Uganda Martyrs' Day at Namugongo. The theme of the liturgical celebration which was presided over the Archbishop of Kampala, his excellency Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, was 'Be my Witnesses, from the Family to the whole World'

Two 'Catholic Brothers', as the Uganda Media reported, bringing the Book of the Word of God across the lake at the Namugongo National Celebrations of Martyrs' Day. Our two brothers being Fr. Ubemu Robert and Br. Yabré Boris, stagiaire in Nabulagala Parish.

The boat of course reminds all Ugandans of the Boat that carried the first Catholic Missionaries, Fr. Simeon Lourdel and Br. Amans across Lake Victoria from Mwanza to Kigungu, near Entebbe, bringing the good news to the people of Uganda.

Apart from our Missionaries of Africa carrying the Book of the Word of God in a boat across the lake, the Provincial Richard Nnyombi and Rudi Lehnertz carried the relics of the Uganda Martyrs in the Procession, followed by all the bishops of Uganda, hundreds of priests and a mammoth crowd who had made their way to Namugongo.
